Bio

I'm a 25-year-old graduate of Auburn University. I received a BS in Zoology (Ecology/Evolution/Behavior track) and also completed a Spanish minor. I currently work as an Animal Care Group Leader at Harlan Laboratories, Inc., which is a barrier facility where colonies of rats, mice, and hamsters are bred for use in research.

I'm married to an amazing guy who puts up with all the quirks detailed below. We met in December 2005, got engaged in April 2007, and tied the knot May 31, 2008. He's a Bama fan, and I'm obviously an Auburn fan, so you know it's true love. I moved to Prattville to live with him in July 2007, and we bought our first home in April 2008.

I grew up in Paducah, KY, where I excelled academically in grades K-12. Unfortunately, my performance declined after discovering alcohol and other college hobbies. I graduated with a 3.25 GPA, though, so I'm happy.

Obviously, I have a thing for animals. Currently, we have a blue betta named Nero, a white cat named Luna, a black lab mix named Vinny, a chow mix puppy named Ally, and an orange tabby kitten named Rusty.

RANDOM FACTS

I collect magnets. I've got 125+ on my fridge from around the Western Hemisphere. The most interesting ones are from when I studied abroad and visited Paris and various cities in Spain.
I'm a bit of a pet food snob. Corn is filler and filler is bad! Luna, Vinny, Ally, and Rusty eat better than we do. They're on premium food for the time being, but I hope to improve it to an ultrapremium grain-free food eventually.
Along those lines, Kristen (pepsi_kicks) and I are infrequently working on a blog on pet foods: Pet Health: The Importance of Proper Nutrition. We're slowly fleshing it out with more reviews and useful information.
I'm not a picky eater, but I AM particular about the integrity of my foods and ingredients. I hate flat soda, stale chips, over-/under-ripe fruit, and over-/under-cooked meats, vegetables, and pasta.
I almost always sleep underneath all our blankets, no matter the temperature.
I've never broken a bone, sprained a joint, had real surgery (besides wisdom teeth removal), or stayed in a hospital (besides as a newborn). I still have my tonsils, appendix, and both kidneys (or so I hope).
